The PentaHexEdges Puzzle
The pieces of this puzzle are double-sided (engraved on both sides) so that the pieces can be flipped over and fit together in many ways. In fact the 12 pieces will fit together in 60 different solutions for this puzzle. One solution is engraved on the back so that you can always put the pieces away if you get stuck. It is extremely difficult to find any solution for this puzzle, so expect a really tough challenge!
THEORY: The pieces of this puzzle are a complete British Selection made up of five diamonds each that are truncated slightly to leave small hexagon shaped holes. Theoretically, the diamonds are actually expansions of the edges of the hexagons. I designed this puzzle some time ago, thinking about hexagon edges after seeing a puzzle based on square edges. I also did another puzzle using triangle edges, but it turned out to be mathematically identical to this one!
